Whose minding the store while the iPad cannibalizes netbooks?

Almost as soon as the iPad arrived the pundits were saying that it would cannibalize netbook sales.  NPD Group countered Wall Street analyst Katy Huberty of Morgan Stanley in May saying it was too soon to tell.  But all the while, says Richard Brown of the blog, BrownKnows, everyone may be looking in the wrong direction.  Shanzai phone makers in China are coming up with killer Android tablets that are likely to hit the $100 mark, opening the market to new users who would never consider a pricey iPad.   And while these Shanzai developers may not be major companies, they’re scrappy and do things very quickly.  Will they join in the smart phone/netbook fray against major brand names or simply do their own thing and be the ones who define  a whole new market?
